Introduction

Welcome to the Website of the Ramon Martí i Bonet Against Blindness Foundation,

We invite you to know the Ramon Martí i Bonet Against Blindness Foundation, and we want to give you the chance to collaborate and join us in our mission to create a better and fairer world for everybody through the fight against blindness.

The Foundation was created in July 2008 and is registered with the number 2490 in the Government of Catalonia Foundations Registry.

We all know in our social environment people with vision problems and we realise to what extend their sight problems make their lives more difficult. For those people that live in countries with no access to a health system, and no access to the social services and the education assistance that we are used to, their situation becomes even much more difficult and unfair.

It is worthy of note that people with sight problems may neither have a chance to study or to work, nor a chance of being independent, as they require assistance from other people. For many of these reasons, in most cases the family financial situation of these people becomes affected, as they are not financially productive for the family and most of them suffer from social discrimination. With our work we will try to solve vision problems from the beginning, because, to set an example, a boy or a girl that wears appropriate glasses on time, will be able to receive an education from the outset and have better opportunities in the future.

Our current objective is the collaboration in a common project with the Rural Development Trust (RDT) of Vicente Ferrer, who has been working for over fifty years in the area of Anantapur (in the Andhra Pradesh region, one of the most deprived regions of India). In the near future we expect to be able to expand our activity in other parts of the third world.

Our current project in the RDT has different purposes:

We invite you to collaborate as financial members or volunteers in our project. Do not hesitate to contact us in case you have any queries.

On behalf of all the members that are part of the Ramon Martí i Bonet Against Blindness Foundation we want to thank you all for your trust and support.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Ramon Martí i Bonet
